Two Tall Women at the ACT.

Beth and I will be performing at the ACT in Maple Ridge on May 14th. We are getting together today to practice and I am really looking forward to playing together again. We both have such busy lives that the opportunities to sing, harmonize and play together are rare.

Beth's new CD is currently being manufactured and we hope to have some pre-release copies at the gig on the 14th for people to get in advance of the actual official release :-)

It is on Election Day here in BC but we hope people will come out and visit with us and also hear all the other amazing artists who come out for this open mike style event in Maple Ridge. We are blessed with such talent in this community and Ivan Boudreau works tirelessly to promote live music as an individual and as an active member of the Songwriter's Association of Canada
"An experienced musician and prolific songwriter, Ivan has been fortunate to have performed with many well-known artists and musicians from
 Boston, to Toronto, to Vancouver."
I hope to see lots of Maple Ridge friends out for this wonderful evening.

Lost my Page for a While

Hi there.
Strange happenings with pamcarrmusic.com. It seems someone else now has the domain name. I am looking into what happened lol. But at least I managed to get my blog site to show up now.

I am going through shifts in my life right now and music seems to still be there, but not so up front as I am preparing to do my thesis for my MA and also planning to build my cob house next summer.  These are pretty HUGE in my mind right now and so the singing is a joy that brings balance to things.

Beth and I just did a Two Tall Women set last Sunday at Rivers Day in Maple Ridge and it was so fantastic. We reconnected with special friends, Trish and Gord and Ivan, Greg and Jenny from Tusket.

We are booked to play at Songstage in January and Beth should have her CD out soon.

I plan to upload my songs from my EP onto Bandcamp at some point and I am shutting down my RPW records website at its current location, and planning to go to a blog to archive all the stuff I did with RPW. Simplifying my life somewhat!

Also I plan to close the reverbnation accounts for Music for Coffee Beings and Violet Femmes.  I just don't have the time to maintain so many sites. I guess the twitter for Violet Femmes needs to go as well.  It is such a process and I am following where my intuition leads me.

Thanks for taking the time to be here and I look forward to posting again soon.

New Gigs at More Crumbs

I have some new gigs to announce. Next Saturday I will be singing at More Crumbs in the 207th Mall at Maple Ridge. That is February 12th. Then I will be on again in April, on the 2nd. The music starts at 1:00 and goes until 3:00.
This is a charming little coffee shop/cafe and so supportive of live music in the community. Come on out and hear some of the new songs from my upcoming CD and I would love to see some of my old Maple Ridge friends again.
I can't wait.

Pam Carr To Perform at Musical Expressions

Can't wait for this Sat. Feb 5th. I am performing at the Richmond Cultural Centre at  8:00. It is one of the special musical evenings presented by Cherelle Jardine. Musical Expressions showcases local and national touring artists. Now in its 7th year, the series runs October to June at the Cultural Centre and July and August at Britannia Heritage Shipyard. For more information www.cherellejardine.com
Doors open at 7:30 and the music starts at 8:00.
Beth Southwell (accordian, penny whistle, harmonies)  and Sacha Levin (djembe and percussion) are backing me up and it promises to be memorable night.

I will be performing songs that reflect my life's journey from the folk clubs of England, through motherhood and family towards my current life view, 'embrace change and joy'. I am currently recording a five song EP at Rolin Sound Studios and I am thrilled with the way it is going. The EP will be released on RPW Records later this spring. I hope you can come out and take in this intimate evening of personal stories and songs. Thanks.

Songs are Sounding Great, I am so excited

I went to the studio yesterday and listened to the bed tracks for the three songs I sang for Chris before Christmas. I was blown away at how they are sounding, each one so individual. I am sure I am feeling so ecstatic as two of these are songs I wrote years ago, one for my brother and one about relationships. The third song is my happy little ditty I wrote with my ukulele, but it is evolving in magical ways in the studio.

I am going in tomorrow to add a ghost vocal on these three arrangements so they can go off to Andy for some organ and keyboard tracks.  Then I get to do the real vocals. Tomorrow I will also be recording another two songs for Chris so he can get working on them. We dream of having a 5 song EP finished for my big show in Richmond on Feb 5th.

Here are some lyrics from 'Jokingly Ask'.

Jokingly ask what the matter is, shattering the bubble.
That is the matter with trouble.....and you.

Why, why, why, why..... do you go on asking me
So many questions?
I, I , I , I .....just keep offering back...
Hopeless suggestions.

We always said that we would care
But the understanding's no longer shared
So many pressures come to bear.

Why, why, why, why..... do you go on asking me
So many questions?
I, I , I , I .....just keep offering back...
Hopeless suggestions.

Whispered words that can't explain
Feelings that we just can't claim
That's the price that we must pay.....for change

Why, why, why, why..... do you go on asking me
So many questions?
I, I , I , I .....just keep offering back...
Hopeless suggestions.

Recording Songs for New EP

I am currently working with Chris Rolin of Rolin Sound Studios. He is producing five songs for an EP of my grown up songs. I have tended to focus on recording my childrens music in the past, and it is still a major part of what I do.
However, I decided it was time to honour my songwriting self and I began delving into my old songbooks and found some little gems that I am so exciting to be sharing with my friends out there in the ether.
I have chosen songs that mean a lot to  me, songs often inspired by those I love the most in my life.
So it is so exciting to be singing these precious melodies and I am so blessed to have Chris to work with on this project.
I am also including a happy little song I wrote with my ukulele.

Here it is, mind you there could be some changes in the lyrics as things evolve.

My Little Uke Song
I want to jump up to the sky
That's the reason why
I don't even try to fly.
And as I leap from cloud to cloud
I can shout out loud
and it makes me feel so proud

Baby, though I may be crazy
I really love this feeling
Yeah, I really feel so fine you know
And maybe, the suns a special lady
And the clouds are shady
And they try to stop her shining

So I, I reach up to the sky
And grab a piece of pie
It's a slice of life, oh my
And I, I have learned to shout my name
It's my only way to claim
My space and know I'm home again

And tiptoe, it's the only way to go
If you trip and fall oh no
Get up and twirl, don't let it slow you down
And solo, nothings wrong with solo
It's the only way to go, its the perfect way to go
'Cause you know your grow so

And then, you get to share that pie
The pie up in the sky, la la la la la
