About Me

 About Me
I am a creative soul and I love this life I am living... .. I sing, write, paint, tell stories, dance, love, dance, walk, dance, teach, learn, record, produce shows and videos, promote artists and support the artist in everyone. I have an indie record label RPW Records,  and put out CDs for myself, Two Tall Women and the amazing Aural Heather. In the recent past I also put out compilations supporting and promoting artists, the Music For Coffee Beings Projects and Violet Femmes.
My kids music is put out on Magic Puddle Records, under the umbrella of Magic Puddle Productions.

Right Now
I am proud to have my Christmas Song, Season the Season, included on the Very Vancouver Christmas Vol 5 CD. I was able to perform this song, at the VERY BIG CHRISTMAS show at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody and then again at the St James Hall in Vancouver as a lead up to Christmas this joyful 2010.
When I perform, it can be solo or sometimes I am blessed to play with  Beth Southwell and Blaine Dunaway or a variety of amazing musicians who agree to come along. I am looking forward to the Creative Expressions Concert on Feb 5th in Richmond.
Currently, along with my childrens music, I am focusing on my songwriting and producing a solo album to get my 'grown up' songs out there and to have my songs licenced for film and TV, etc.
Some of the songs on the music player, on my music page, are songs I wrote that I recorded with Beth for our Two Tall Women CDs and some are recordings I have produced in the past.
I am currently working with producer Chris Rolin (Rolin Sound Studios), on a 5 songs demo to be released in 2012.

Violet Femmes
A few years ago I founded Violet Femmes, a project that promotes women in music and have put out two compilation CDs featuring women from around the world.  The Violet Femmes Volumes 1 and 2 are available on CD Baby and iTunes if you would like to get the CDS. I produced shows in Vancouver, Violet Femmes Showcases, featuring women artists from the Violet Femmes CDs. These talented women traveled to Vancouver to perform alongside local women performers. Past Violet Femmes Showcases have been at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, The Firehall Arts Centre, New Music West and the Media Club, as well as a co produced show at the Beaumont Studios Stage with Vancouver City Limits.....
You can visit the Violet Femmes Music blog which promotes women artists in many genres and not just women off the Violet Femmes Volumes 1 and 2. You can check out my blog at http://violetfemmes.blogspot.com

The Storytelling Show
I also produce and present shows on COOP Radio. I am a member of The Storytelling Show, on CFRO 102.7 fm and host a show about once a month, so please contact me if you have some interesting stories to share about your life so far.

Pamela Sunshine
Currently I perform for children as Pamela Sunshine, and I am promoting my kids CD, Growing Up Green, featuring guest artists Shari Ulrich, Steve Dawson, Blaine Dunaway and Gord Maxwell. It is in libraries across Canada and being aired on radio around the world.  It is so exciting to have an official song video for  GROWING UP GREEN.  George Faulkner produced this delightful project, using images that warm the heart.
My live shows involve storytelling and music, with guitar and ukulele and often the children join in with percussion instruments that I bring along. I am recording a storytelling CD, The Stories of Three, with Ken Cade of Sillken, doing the soundscore. This is a manifestation of a vision I have held for many years and I am so grateful to have connected with Ken for this project.

I have a Pamela Sunshine blog for  what I am up to but it also includes some stuff on education and early childhood education matters.

Pam's Creative Classroom.
As a teacher and one who passionately promotes the need for music and story in a child's world,  I just started a new blog to share the resources I have created for the parents and teachers of young children, and it is in the early stages of development.
As I have recently changed my name from Pam Southwell to Pam Carr, I discontinued my pamsouthwell.com website which had lots of lyrics and nursery rhymes and song resources for teachers.
I have created Pams Creative Classroom in hopes this might help replace some of the wealth of action songs and lyrics that were available at my old site. I plan to keep adding information so keep checking it out if this interests you. This blog is also supported by my youtube channel, PamelaSunshinetv which has an ever growing collection of songs, chants, finger rhymes and nursery rhymes for parents and educators to use with their children.

Two Tall Women
Sometimes I get to sing with my daughter Beth as Two Tall Women. We used to tour and record together, but at the moment we are both pursuing our personal music paths and love it when we get to back each other up in our musical journey.

My Art
I love to paint as Pamela Sunshine and my paintings are filled with colour and joyfulness, peace and healing. You can see them on my artists page on facebook, at my Pamela Sunshine Artist Page.
